Refrigeration and air conditioning

The goal of this branch of thermal engineering is to address the current challenges of refrigeration and air conditioning, such as designing and installing more efficient cooling systems. Engineers work to reduce energy consumed and heat released into the environment, creating better, greener systems. Thermal engineers in this specialization may work on developing water-based cooling technologies, improving heat-driven cooling systems, creating hybrid models which involve conduction, convection and radiation, new and unique dehumidification technologies and superior methods of moisture control.
