- The steam should be evenly distributed over the entire cooling surface of the condenser with minimum pressure loss.
- There should be no undercooling of the condensate.
- Water should be passed through the tubes and steam must surround the tubes from outside.
- There should be no air leakage into the condenser to maintain proper vacuum.
- Air must be cooled to the maximum possible extent before extraction.
- For better thermal efficiency, the rise in temperature of the cooling water should be limited to 10°C.
